Indoor

We have a very proud history of Indoor Hockey success at North Coast Raiders. We currently have 5 members of the 2025 WA Open Women’s team as part of our Premier One Squad, along with 2 players in the WA Under 21’s Squad. We also have One member attending as a player at the 2025 Indoor Hockey World Cup and One member attending as a coach (both for the New Zealand team).

What Is Indoor Hockey

Indoor Hockey is played in the off-season of Turf Hockey. It consists of 6 players (including the goalkeeper) and is played on an indoor hockey court with boards around the sidelines to prevent the ball from going out of play. It is played with different sticks and ball, and has modified rules.

Rules of Indoor Hockey

All rules of Outdoor Hockey are still applicable in indoor hockey plus;

  • No Raising of the ball

  • You are only allowed three points of contact on the ground at one time (most commonly 1 hand and both feet)

  • The players must always have a ‘way out’ meaning a channel must be open for the ball to be dribbled or played through.

  • No playing the ball through a player who is in a set position. This is called ‘drilling’ and is very heavily punished, with cards being issued for even slight drills
