North Coast Raiders Hockey Club Men will host 5 turf sides for 2023 season catering for a range of abilities. We boast a very experienced Metropolitan 1s Grass team and several Vets teams.
Men’s 1s

Captains: Jasdev Singh/Nic Jolly
Our Men’s 1s team will play in Premier 2 of the Hockey Western Australia Competition. After so narrowly missing promotion back into Premier 1 last season, the team will be aiming to leave their mark on the division this year. The squad is led by experienced Head Coach, ex-AIS Scholarship holder, Len Fernandes. The group is a mixture of talented young players with the odd older heads. We aim to compete at the highest level possible while upholding the club’s values and proving to be aspirational examples to members of all ages. The squad is fully integrated into the club with many members also performing coaching roles.
Men’s 2

Captain: Mitch Jamieson
The Men’s 2s will play in Division 4 of the Hockey Western competition. After a successful 2022 season, the 2s main aim will be to gain promotion into the Premier 3 division.
The team is coached by ex-AIS Scholarship holder Matthew Beevers and is made up of several North Coast Raiders players that have played in our Men’s 1s for a number of years coupled with some talented youth players looking to gain some experience before taking the big step up.
Men’s 3s

The Men’s 3s are a development team for the men’s section. Some push for the 2s and train twice a week, some are the future of the club and others, well they turn up play hard and enjoy themselves a little more! The 3s, 4, 5s will be led by club stalwart Aaron George with the help of his Game Day Coaches. Currently playing in Division 6, the 3s will be aiming to gain promotion this season.

The Men’s 4/5s play in Divisions 7 & 8 of the Hockey Western Australia Competition. A social bunch, the squad includes a core team plus junior members transitioning to full mens, recreational members and some of our more senior members of the club. We regularly see father and son playing in these teams. Our aim is gain promotion and continue developing as a team and enabling players to be fed into our development 3s team.
Metro 1s Grass
Coach: Darren Morton
The Metro 1s men are at the heart of the Men’s Section, the team was put together to enable young dads to continue playing whilst still being able to spend time with the family. The squad is made up of players who were playing at a Premier 1 level right through to the lower turf grades, players who had left the sport and complete beginners. The team’s main objective is to maintain the ambitious standards set since forming in 2020.

The Men’s Vets teams are made up of players of all abilities. The teams play in a keenly contested division, playing against players they have played against throughout their careers. In this league, Vets teams must field a team of mostly over 40s. However, they can have two players aged 35 or over. Many players in our Vets teams go onto represent WA and Australian Masters teams. The primary aim of the Vets is to provide an enjoyable experience for all whilst playing some competitive hockey.
