Volunteer Spotlight

Stacey “Stackers” Hamilton joined Raiders as a junior back in the 90’s and not only has she represented the club on the hockey field but even more so off the hockey field in the numerous volunteer roles she has undertaken.

Some of these roles have been “official” volunteer roles but by far the majority of tasks Stacey has tackled have been due to her can-do attitude and her love for the club. Stacey has won Club Person of the year on more than one occasion, served as Women’s Director, Masters coordinator and currently still sits on the NCR Turf committee and HWA Masters committee (where she has added a voice of reason and a good work ethic).

Stacey has been involved in nearly every social committee at NCR, has MC’d at numerous Club windups and club social functions. For as long as anyone can remember Stacey has worked behind the bar at the Junior Quiz night and been an integral member of the “Bar Team” ensuring the oldies mostly get a win over the juniors! Stacey was integral in the promotion and recruitment of masters players (with the promise of no training and a good water and feed after the game), giving NCR it’s very first Rae Blunt Pennant side (where she organises the-last-minute-call-for-fill in’s every week, the umpire as well as a good supply of Rocky Road and Fixomull tape for the team).

When moving into the senior ranks Stacey would often volunteer to collect juniors on her way to training or matches and has been a great mentor to a number of our junior (and now senior) players. Stacey has also consistently been selected to play for WA at Masters hockey level. Stacey’s off-field commitment to the club is also reflected in her on-field commitment to the club – she brings a sense of humour, absolute commitment to the team, willingness to put her body on the line (broken nose, torn ACL, turf burns to the knees) and a good dose of reality to those who need it. Stacey you are one of a kind – the true epitome of the Raiders Spirit – thank you for everything that you do for our great club!
